Booking and prices
- How much does a tour cost?
- I charge per van, not per person, so a family of five pays the same as a couple. Send me your dates and the trip you have in mind and I reply with one price for the driving. Entrance fees and meals are extra and you pay those directly.
- How do I book?
- Message me on WhatsApp or send an email. Once we agree on the plan, the date and the price, send me your flight details and hotel address and the day is booked. There is no form, no deposit and no booking fee.
- Do I need to pay a deposit?
- No. To confirm a booking I only ask for your flight details and your hotel address. That is all.
- How do I pay?
- Cash in Thai baht, at the end of the day. I do not take cards.
- What if my plans change?
- Tell me as early as you can so I can offer the day to someone else. If your flight is delayed or someone is unwell, message me and we will find a solution.
The van and the group
- How many people fit in the van?
- 2 to 9 people with luggage. For a bigger group I can arrange a second vehicle.
- Do you have a child seat?
- Yes, I have one baby seat for children aged one to three. Tell me when you book so I have it in the van.
- Do you pick up outside Chiang Mai city?
- Pickup anywhere in Chiang Mai is included. For pickups further away, or from Chiang Rai, ask me and I will quote for it.
- Do you do airport transfers?
- Yes, at any hour. Send me your flight number and I will check the arrival time before I leave. Custom tours and transfers
On the day
- Are you a driver or a guide?
- I am your private driver. Along the way I explain the places, the history and the food, and most guests call me their guide. At some places, such as the Pha Dok Siew trail on Doi Inthanon, a local guide is required and I arrange that. The Doi Inthanon day
- What should I wear to temples?
- Shoulders and knees covered, and shoes off inside. A light scarf or sarong is useful. The big temples lend or sell sarongs at the entrance.
- Can we change the itinerary during the day?
- Yes. If you want to stay longer at a waterfall and skip the next stop, tell me and we do that.
- Is tipping expected?
- No. Some guests do tip and I am grateful for it, but it is never expected.
Planning your trip
- When is the best time to visit northern Thailand?
- November to February is cool and dry with clear mornings in the mountains. March and April are hot and often hazy from agricultural burning. May to October is the rainy season, with short showers most afternoons and the greenest landscapes. All day trips
